彫刻刀は学生の頃から使い続けている堺刃物のものです。研ぎながら使い続 けているので随分短くなりました。OLFAのカッターナイフも愛用しています。最近は刃の種類も多岐にわたり、先が細かな作業向きの刃を使っています。絵具は水性のポスターカラー、ガッシュ、日本画顔料絵具など、作品のイメージに合う色を使っています。 水性の絵具は紙に滲み重ねた色とも響きあう表情がとても心地がいいです。 和紙も学生の頃から京都の問屋さんから購入しています。福井県 越前和紙 手漉き鳥の子和紙襖判を使っています。数年前に越前和紙の町を訪ねまし た。職人さんの手漉き作業が拝見出来る施設もあり、作業のご苦労と和紙の 素材の素晴らしさを知り、ことさら大切な素材であると再認識しました。 襖判はサイズが色々取れるので、自分のイメージに裁断して使っています。

My wood carving knives were produced by Sakai Hamono, and I have been using them since I was a student. The chisels have become very much shorter, as I have been sharpening them to keep working with. I also have my favorite utility knife for a long time that was manufactured by OLFA. Nowadays there are various types of blades from the company, and I use the one with extra fine tips to work on the carving.

I employ water-based poster colors, gouache, Japanese pigment paints, and other colors that match the impression of the work.

The water-based paints are very pleasing, as it resonates with the hues bleeding and overlaying on the paper.

I have been purchasing Japanese paper from a wholesaler in Kyoto since I was a student. The Japanese paper I use is made in Fukui Prefecture, and called Echizen Washi, Handmade Torinoko Washi Fusuma size. I visited the town of Echizen Washi a few years ago. There is a facility where you can see the craftsmen making Japanese paper by hand. I learned the difficulty of the work and the greatness of Japanese paper, and realized again how precious Japanese paper was to me as a material.

Since many different sizes of sheets can be taken from the large format Fusuma paper, I cut it into a good size for my image and make a print on the sheet.

有田焼　辻毅彦さんの作品です。もう亡くなられていらっしゃるんですが、大好きな作家さんです。父の田舎が九州で、子供の頃、夏冬と毎年旅行に出かけていました。その際足を延ばし有田焼に毎回立ち寄り、お小遣いをためて買わせて頂くのが楽しみでした。抽象的なホルムの動物の形のペーパーウェイトが特にお気に入りです。

本は、梨木香歩さんのお話が好きでよく読ませて頂いています。文章から日本の湿潤な空気が感じられるように思います。最近お知り合いの方から原田マハさんの本をかなりの冊数頂き読ませて頂きました。中でもリーチ先生は九州の窯元を実際よく出かけていた事もあり土地への鳥海図的な認識と、個人的な思い出、が物語に感情移入を強くさせ、更に主人公のモノづくりへの姿勢、出会う人との紡がれる世界に涙が流れる程感動しました。
眼鏡は必需品ですが、LINDBERG社の眼鏡がデザイン機能共に気に入り気付けば4つ目になりました。
